Account Alerts at NexTier Bank

Real-time SMS, email and push account alerts across balance, transaction, security and fraud categories. Free for every NexTier Bank accountholder. Typical transaction alerts arrive in under 10 seconds. Fraud alerts usually fire before the underlying authorization posts, giving you a moment to decline.

Enroll and tune categories in online banking or in the mobile app. The same configuration screen lives on both channels; any change propagates immediately.

Service Brief

The four alert families available to every NexTier Bank accountholder.

Balance Alerts

Low-balance threshold alerts fire when cleared balance drops below a user-defined floor (common choices: $25, $50, $100). High-balance alerts work in reverse for savers tracking goals. A daily balance snapshot email is available for accountholders who like a 7:00am start-of-day read on all accounts at once.

Transaction Alerts

Large-debit threshold alerts fire on any debit above a user-set amount. Card-not-present alerts fire on online and phone-order card transactions. Foreign-transaction alerts fire on any cross-border card use. ATM-withdrawal alerts fire on every cash withdrawal, helpful for early fraud detection.

Security Alerts

Sign-in from a new device triggers an immediate email plus SMS. Password changes fire an alert to both email and SMS regardless of channel — a tampering tip-off if you did not change it. MFA token changes (adding a new phone to SMS OTP, for instance) also alert on both channels.

Fraud Alerts

The fraud-detection engine evaluates every card authorization in real time against behavioural patterns. Suspicious authorizations fire an alert typically within 5 seconds. Reply "NO" to the SMS to decline the authorization; reply "YES" to approve and continue. No-response within 2 minutes defaults to decline for pattern-deviant transactions.

Digital Channel Brief

Where alerts land and how fast.

Channel Latency

SMS alerts route via a US-based tier-one aggregator with sub-5-second median delivery. Email alerts route via a transactional mail provider with sub-10-second delivery. Push alerts delivered by Apple APNs and Google FCM typically arrive in under 3 seconds to unlocked devices.

End-of-day balance alerts (daily snapshot, monthly statement-ready) are scheduled jobs that fire at approximately 8:00pm ET after the processing day closes.

Opt-in & Opt-out

Balance, transaction and fraud opt-in alerts are configurable per category. Sign-in from new device and certain core fraud alerts are default-on and cannot be disabled — they are part of the mandatory security posture required under the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau expectations for electronic-funds protection.

Reply STOP to any SMS to unsubscribe from that alert category. Unsubscribing from mandatory security alerts is not available; contact customer service at 1-800-262-8215 to adjust destination phone or email instead.

Experience Profile

How alerts keep customers ahead of fraud and overdraft at NexTier Bank.

Caught the Fraud in Minutes

A card-not-present alert fires at 11:47pm for a $480 transaction the customer does not recognize. Two taps inside the mobile app: card locked, transaction disputed. Fresh plastic mailed. The fraud detection engine prevented a second attempt automatically.

Low-Balance Save

Low-balance alert at $100 triggers Tuesday morning. Accountholder moves $500 from savings on the phone during the morning commute. The electric auto-debit on Friday sails through without an overdraft. A one-minute fix.

Travel Activity

Foreign-transaction alert fires on a first card swipe in Rome. Instant text message. The traveler enters a travel notice in the mobile app and continues. Every transaction over the trip generates a real-time alert — no nasty surprises on return.
